Terugblik op het ESC congres 2023

Van 25 t/m 28 augustus vond het jaarlijkse Europese cardiologie congres plaats in Amsterdam (ESC congress 2023). Vanuit de hele wereld kwamen cardiologen, onderzoekers en andere professionals die zich bezig houden met hartziekten samen. Tijdens dit congres waren er verschillende sessies en debatten op het gebied van aangeboren hartafwijkingen.

Diverse collega’s vanuit het CAHAL waren aanwezig om kennis op te doen en te delen. De volgende onderdelen werden vanuit CAHAL verzorgd:

• Justin Wallet presenteerde een ePoster in de sessie: “Congenital Heart Disease and Paediatric Cardiology” over zijn onderzoek: “The R” wave in V1 and the terminal QRS vector in aVF combine to a novel 12-lead ECG algorithm to identify slow conducting anatomical isthmus 3 in patients with tetralogy of Fallot”
• Leo Engele vertelde in de sessie: “Clinical performance of patients with adult congenital heart disease” over: “Decreased clinical performance in TGA-ASO patients after RVOT re-interventions; multicenter European collaboration”
• Marieke Nederend presenteerde in de sessie: “Congenital Heart Disease and Paediatric Cardiology” haar onderzoek over: “Adult patients with univentricular physiology after Fontan palliation: prevalence and percutaneous closure of veno-venous collaterals.”
• Lars Witte presenteerde: “Anatomical features of PFO in patients with cryptogenic stroke in comparison to autopsy results” in de sessie: “Adult congenital Heart disease: The most vulnerable group”
• Diederick Verheijen presenteerde in de sessie: “New findings in adult congenital heart disease” 2 onderzoeken: “Fractional flow reserve in anomalous aortic origin of coronary arteries to evaluate hemodynamic consequences of high risk anatomical features” en “Neo-aortic dimensions and coronary take-off angle in adolescent and young adult patients with transposition of the great arteries after the arterial switch”.

• In de sessie: “Epidemiology in acute coronary syndromes” presenteerde Ruben Methorst over “Mendelian randomization identifies sex differences in pain manifestation of coronary artery disease”
• Lieke van Roon presenteerde haar onderzoek: “Cardiac sympathetic hyperinnervation after myocardial infarction: a systematic review and qualitative analysis” in de sessie: “Mechanisms of ventricular arrhythmias”.
• Thomas Bos vertelde in de sessie: “Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy and cardiac sarcoidosis” over: “Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy phenotype associated with the pathogenic founder variant c.1211dup in PKP2”
• Michiel Blok presenteerde: “The mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor (MANF) as a novel regulator of post-infarction cardiac sympathetic hyperinnervation” in de sessie: “Myocardial biology”.

• Daarnaast zaten onder andere dr. Egorova en prof. dr. Jongbloed verschillende sessies voor.

Het was een leerzaam en interessant congres. Op naar het ESC congres 2024!
